Every region in India has their own style of kadhi. And it is the easiest way of incorporating proteins and veggies in your meal too. But on most days when I am too lazy to chop veggies I make this plain kadhi.  And it is so so easy and a quick meal option too 🙂 Generally kadhi has onion fritters or a lot of veggies but this recipe is easy, fail proof and best for wintery season!

Mine is a quick adaptation from various regions and I am sure you are going to enjoy this too.

If you are one of those lazy types like me, I am sure you would love this! If yes, please do give it a try and leave your comment below.

Plain Kadhi (Yoghurt Curry)

And khana tayyaar hain (food is ready)!! You can also have this as a side dish with khichdi with some hot roasted papad (ohh man I want it now, even while I am typing it ;)) or  with a proper thali too. I like mine with white or brown rice. This can be had with bulgur or quinoa too.

What’s your favourite style of Kadhi? And do leave your comment below if you like this quick recipe.

Much love 🙂

Instructions
  1. In a bowl, mix the gram flour and yoghurt with 1 cup of water into a smooth mixture. Ensure there are no lumps in the mixture
  2. In a heavy bottomed pan, add this yogurt mixture with turmeric powder, green chilli, curry leaves and ginger.
  3. Let this start boiling. That should start happening in 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Add salt as per taste. And check for the consistency of the kadhi (it shouldn't be too thick or too watery. Gram flour could make it too thick, thus add another cup of water or more based on your preference.
  5. While this is boiling, in a tempering pan add ghee, red dry chilli, red chilli powder, cumin seeds, mustard seeds and finally asafoetida. Temper this for a min on high flame.
  6. And pour this over the boiling kadhi and serve it hot!
Recipe Notes

Kadhi has proteins from yoghurt and gram flour making it a perfect meal. Always serve this hot with white/brown rice or quinoa, bulgur.
