Everyone has those days when you are craving for dosas and idlis and get the readymade batter from the neighboring store, but then realize what’s to do with the chutney without coconut. This Easy Peanut Chutney without any coconut will come to your rescue.

I am not a huge fan of anything with peanuts, I know strange right? But for some reason whenever I make this chutney I am the first one to lick it through and through and finish all sides of the bowl.

Also did you not know how easy and quick this chutney can be. It has goodness from the lentils and peanuts in it too. You can even make a large batch of it and enjoy this with your upma or idli/dosa every other day.

Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a pan. Fry the peanuts and chana daal on a low to medium flame for 3 – 4 mins
  2. Add the curry leaves and fry for a min. Now add asafoetida and fry for another minute.
  3. The mixture shouldn’t get over brown or burnt else it might taste bitter.
  4. Let the mixture cool and then add it to a blender.
  5. Add the ginger, green chilli and salt. Pour some water to help it get to a smooth consistency.
  6. And now the chutney is ready. You can add some tempered oil on this if desired or just skip altogether. It tastes great with or without it as well.
